Maria Theresa Jubilee exhibition catalogue

The complete text and picture volume
for the anniversary exhibition

May 13 2017 marks the 300th birthday of Maria Theresa, one of the most popular rulers in Austrian and European history. Maria Theresa as a woman and ruler, her work during her lifetime, and her legacy as Austria’s mother figure call for a critical examination of the personality and impact of this famous Habsburg. The various facets of her life story and the political challenges she faced during her reign make up the focus of this companion volume to the anniversary exhibition. It will present the historico-cultural achievements of the era as well as the creation of the “legend of Maria Theresa”, which the empress had already spread during her lifetime. Thanks to in-depth contributions by renowned experts, the richly illustrated catalogue conveys a comprehensive and critical image of this influential figure of Austrian history.
